What We Offer
Been dying to do pottery, and don't know where to start? Or are you looking for a course to practise and refine what you have already learned so far? This six-week pottery course on Wednesday evenings with the numerous hand building and wheel throwing techniques with Jacqui will be the one for you. You will fall in love with the malleable, tactile nature of the clay with its endless possibilities. This course is an excellent introduction to the endless possibilities that pottery can offer. If you prefer symmetry and don't mind the mess then you will love the wheel. If you prefer organic and highly varied shapes - then hand-building will float your boat. But it is worth giving it all a try! You will make something that will last a lifetime, and it bring you much joy. Each session is two hours long, and you will learn to: - Pinch, roll slabs, coil clay, learn to use moulds - Learn to wheel-throw to make highly varied and creative pots, vases, cups or bowls. - Decorate surfaces with colour and texture - Glaze Suitable for adults either beginners or those who have done a course before. If you have never played with clay, this is a great way to learn. If you have already had some experience, this could be a wonderful refresher course for you, or an opportunity to learn something new. Please bring: Protective clothing (an apron and towel). Long nails may damage your pieces, and hair should be tied back. Included: Clay, use of tools, underglazes and glazes Extras: Firing is $10.50 per kg. Each piece is fired twice (before and after glazing). All pieces are weighed after firing (making them lighter and stronger). You can purchase your own set of tools and extra clay from us if you like. Come get messy with Jacqui!
